Artist statement
My work combines the realities of everyday life with beauty and its shadow side. I use fantastical elements and mythology along with scientific symbolism to portray the complex relationships and collective consciousness of human beings. Inspiration is drawn from popular culture, science, mythology and literature, including song lyrics and poetry, all of which contribute to my reference material. I work primarily with oil painting and clay sculptures. The sculptures are often used to give elements from the paintings spaciousness and materiality.
